Self Insurance Meeting

Leveraging from the opening address, the session will be a mix of presentation and engaging the participants in the issues & question facing self-insures in the agenda. A mixed panel of industry SME’s will provide insight, opinion and answer questions.

The workshop will be presented face to face at the office of Hall and Wilcox, supported with online conference for those unable to attend. A light lunch will be provided to attendees who attend in person.

Agenda:

    1. Lessons of regulator and performance priorities – Lionel Charmetant, Chief Operating Officer, Gallagher Bassett

Gallagher Bassett’s Self Insurance division manages many Self Insured and Comcare clients across Australia and its territories. In its capacity as a scheme agent, Gallagher Bassett manages workers compensation portfolios across several Australian jurisdictions. Lionel will share GB’s broader experience in its engagement with the regulators, to share some thoughts on what their future priorities may be.

     2. Meeting the reasonable excuse requirement of SIRA

  • Obligation to notify a worker of reasonably excuse (Injury)
  • Obligation for the submission of Data to SIRA (Injury)
  • Resourcing injury data entry for reasonable excuse matters
    • Separating Injury Mgmt and claims Mgmt responsibility
  • Maintaining results with your Early Intervention program
  • System improvements to support the self-Insurer.
